A renaissance
We won’t tell you a back to family roots story, but one about a Renaissance …
We are Alexia Russo and Caroline Fyot. After pursuing an international career in the luxury industry for one and in insurance for the other, we needed to reconnect with nature and fulfil a childhood dream: to create a wine estate.
After obtaining our Professional Agricultural Certificate at the Lycée Viticole de Beaune and completing our internships in Côte de Nuits and Côte Chalonnaise, our first vintage was born in 2018.
We chose Burgundy, the Côte Chalonnaise and the Château de Garnerot to create our estate because of its deep historical roots in the wine making tradition. Our mission is to give a new life to the Château de Garnerot, by creating touristic activities around wine and the flavours of Mercurey. An 18th Century property, in the village of Mercurey, the Château de Garnerot has hosted for several years the Saint Vincent Guild, the “Grands Jours de Bourgogne” event, the “Saint Vincent Tournante” event, as well as many other wine events.
Come and join us in the discovery of a wonderful terroir! Welcome to Château de Garnerot!
A terroir
We farm 6 hectares of land, mainly in Côte Chalonnaise and Côte de Beaune. We also have a small wine merchant activity (Chai Garnerot), which allows us to offer a wider range of wines.
The vineyards in our estate are currently undergoing organic farming conversion planned for 2022. A necessary condition for working in accordance with our convictions but also for respecting the terroirs.
We choose to farm high potential vineyards: old rootstock selection, soil quality and plot orientation.
The terroirs of the Côte Chalonnaise and the Côte de Beaune offer a diversity that we want to show through our wines. Each plot produces a specific cuvée. From Aligoté to Premier Cru, we take the same care and the same attention to our vines and our wines.
At Château de Garnerot, we wish to enhance our regional Burgundy appellations.
You are invited to (re) discover the historic terroir of Southern Burgundy and its specificities through our cuvées.
A belief
Respect for Nature, the Environment and People is the pillar of this Renaissance.
We seek to reveal the personality of each of our wines, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, so that an Aligoté as well as a Bourgogne or a Mercurey 1er Cru expresses all of its personality.
The notion of social responsibility is essential for us and guides the way we manage the estate, both in the vineyards and in the choice of our service providers and suppliers.
We were therefore involved from the start in the organic approach, with a biodynamic approach on certain plots, in order to deeply reconnect the plants to their soils, the elements and to promote biodiversity.
